Flat weave describes a rug that is woven on a loom or sometimes knotted. It is created by interlocking warp (vertical) and weft (horizontal) threads. Also known as dhurrie or kilim rugs. The materials used in flat weave rugs vary. Typically the warp threads are made from a sturdy fibre such as linen, raw silk, cotton or wool, while the fibres which form the weft are the fibres that form the pattern and can be any type of fibre.
